The Global Research and Development Department is a core team inside CEMEX INNOVATION HOLDING (CIH) based in Switzerland. The aim of the team involves research and development of new products and technologies for the different challenges Cemex has as a key global player in the construction industry as well as specialized technical troubleshooting for all Cemex operations, mainly Cement, Concrete, Aggregates, Admixtures and Urban Solutions. This position seeks to conduct Advanced Research in innovative construction technologies and devices, monitoring systems for constructing Fiber Reinforced Concrete (FRC) structures.
- Literature review of the current structural norms, monitoring systems, and construction technology based on pure and hybrid solutions of FRC;
- Support the engineering team in experimental testing on small- and real-scale structural elements. In-depth analysis of size effect and fiber orientation;
- Support the engineering team in the development of new construction methods with the use of novel materials;
- Development of appropriate numerical models for design according to new innovative construction processes;
- Development of new construction technologies for advanced cementitious materials;
- Assessment of size effect and fiber orientation matters in FRCs from small- to real-scale structural systems;
- Evaluation of fiber orientation in FRCs, defining general formulas to support design based on experimental evidence;
- Development of ew algorithms for structural design with non-conventional cement-based composites and innovative construction technologies.
- Knowledge of spoken and written English at least B2 level;
- Student status;
- Education in the field of Civil Engineering, Structural Design;
